The graveside service for Carol Rozelle, 77, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 12:00pm, Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Gardens, with Pastor George Parmeter officiating. A time of remembrance will be held following the burial at City Lights. Carol died Friday, August 30, 2024, in Concord, CA, surrounded by family.
Carol was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota on May 28, 1947, to John and Emma Geranen. She was the youngest of three siblings and raised on the family farm where she developed a love for animals, especially for her dogs, Poochie & Tiko.
She attended Frederick grade school and high school, where she graduated Valedictorian in 1965. Carol furthered her education at Aberdeen School of Commerce graduating with honors in the one-year stenographic program. For the next 39 years she worked at Northern State University in the Registrar's Office as Senior Secretary.
In 1977, she married the love of her life Vern Rozelle. Together they enjoyed traveling, music, walks, spending time with family and caring for their beloved pets. Following Vern's death, Carol relocated to Concord, CA in November of 2005 where she dedicated herself as a caregiver for the elderly.
Grateful for having shared Carol's life are her sister, Betty Schmich of Portland, OR; sister-in-law, Nita (Fred) Geranen of Aberdeen, SD; close cousin, Gordy Geranen of Concord, CA, whom she lived with for many years and would sit side by side watching their favorite sports teams: The Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Vikings! She is also survived by; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends who will miss her wit, contagious laughter, long conversations, down to earth sense of humor, and her love.
Preceding Carol in death are her beloved husband, Vern; stepdaughter, Becky; her parents; and her brother, Fred.
