Obituary of Carole Joanne Metcalfe
Carole Joanne (Withers) Metcalfe, 85, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior at home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, on December 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Carole was born on December 24, 1938, in Tacoma Park, Maryland, and spent her childhood in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Clariton High School and went on to earn her degree from Ohio University.
Carole's love story began in 6th grade when she met Robert (Bob) Metcalfe. Their bond grew over the years, culminating in their marriage on August 12, 1961, which marked the beginning of a 71-year journey of love, companionship, and Christ-centered commitment. Together, they built a beautiful life and family.
Carole dedicated her professional life to teaching, inspiring and nurturing countless students throughout her career. She retired in 2000, after which she enjoyed traveling with Bob, spending time at their cabin, and making cherished memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carole's faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. She lived out her faith through the love she showed everyone, especially adoring her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carole found endless joy in spending time with them, celebrating their milestones and hearing their laughter. Her love, kindness, and warmth touched all who knew her. Carole is now resting in the arms of her Savior and fully healed. Her last days on Earth were spent confidently awaiting this next beautiful step in her journey, eternal life in Heaven.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert (Bob) Metcalfe; four children: Amy (Dave) Price, Dan (Tami) Metcalfe, Sharon (Kevin) McGowan, and Mark (Kim) Metcalfe; her sister, Joyce Hite; grandchildren Shawn, Brittani, Meghan, Sam, Courtni, Jordan, Ashley,
Scotty, Derek, and Katlyn; and twenty beloved great-grandchildren. Carole's legacy of love and dedication will continue through her family for generations to come.
Service will be held on Tuesday, December 10th at 11:00AM at Redeemer Covenant Church (7801 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445) for family and friends, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Redeemer Covenant Church (Brooklyn Park, MN) or the American Cancer Society, two causes close to Carole's heart.
Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to know her.
