In the early morning hours of July 6, 2025, Carole Anne Oubre Reeves of Groves, Texas entered her heavenly home to meet her Savior. Carole was born February 25, 1950 to Lawrence Pierre Oubre and Thelma Marie Judice Oubre. She was the 3rd of 4 children and the youngest daughter. Carole was raised in Port Arthur where she attended Tyrell Elementary, Edison Junior High and Thomas Jefferson “TJ” High School (class of 1968). Carole was smart, well liked and involved in all aspects of high school. She was often called Ms. TJ by her children as they found her on every other page of the yearbook. On December 13, 1968, she married her high school sweetheart, Marvin, who she had been in love with since she met him in 7th grade. Together they had 3 children, Aimée, Amber, and Spencer then later added a bonus son, Chris to the mix. Carole was the ray of sunshine in the family with her beautiful smile, profound words of wisdom, and devoted prayer life. She was a phenomenal mother but an even better Gandy to her grands. Nothing in this life thrilled her more than being a Gandy to those babies. Her eyes lit up and she beamed with pride and love anytime she talked about them or watched them (& her bonus grands) perform in the countless, sporting events, plays, dance recitals, pageants, honor society ceremonies, etc… The grands were wonderful, but she even got the joy of welcoming 2 great grandbabies which was just extra icing on the grandparent cake for her. Carole was a fervent prayer warrior for her family, friends and anyone in need. She loved the Lord with all her heart and enjoyed serving on the insurance committee at church to use her career skills to keep the church covered. She was a cheerleader in school and continued that role as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend since she left her high school cheerleading days. Her smile, love and bubbly personality will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her. She is no longer in pain, completely healed and is dancing with Jesus.
She is survived in death by her husband of 56 years, Marvin, children Aimée Hebert and husband, Chad of Port Neches, Amber Barrow and husband, Monte of Nederland, Spencer Reeves and wife, Sunshine of Kyle, and Chris Gibson and wife, Mandy of Groves as well as sister, Linda Borel and husband, Mel of San Antonio. Grandchildren include Seth Barrow and fiancé, Kailey Sheppard of Nederland, Andrew Hebert and wife, Baylee of Lake Jackson, Brock Hebert and fiancé, Kaitlyn Wofford of Port Neches, Reeve Barrow of Nederland, Kiara Reeves of New Braunfels, Aiyana Reeves of San Marcos, Morgan Gibson and wife, Victoria of Groves, and Maura Gibson of Pennsylvania; Great grandchildren are Brooks Barrow and Braydi Barrow of Nederland and Scarlett Gibson and Ace Gibson of Groves.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Thelma Oubre, sister, Marlene Durke and brother, John Oubre, Sr.
