Carolyn Mabery Davidson passed away peacefully July 10, 2025 at the age of 91 years old.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Davidson Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Huckeby officiating. Davidson Cemetery on FM 1829 is only accessible from the south via FM 107, due to the closure of FM 1829 just north of the cemetery, for bridge replacement over Greenbriar Creek.

Carolyn was born on July 3, 1934, in Breckenridge, Texas to Ned and Clara Mabery. She attended school in Breckenridge, where she was a proud Buckaroo. She later attended Baylor University where she met the love of her life, Cotton Davidson. She married Francis Marion (Cotton) Davidson on June 5, 1954 and they had four children, Tommy, Kelly, Tracy and Ty. During their 68 years together, they moved around the country following Cotton’s football career. Carolyn was his biggest fan and wanted them all to always be together. From Baltimore to Canada to Dallas to Oakland and back to Gatesville this family of six stayed together mainly due to her strength and belief in family. She was fiercely loyal and courageous and was responsible for many cross country moves by herself.

Carolyn loved the Lord and taught the young married class at First Baptist Church in Gatesville. Her common sense and wit made it one of the largest classes attended during that time. She also volunteered to drive cancer patients to treatments. She and Cotton both contributed and supported the Boys and Girls Club of Gatesville.

While Carolyn was a model wife, where she shined the brightest was as “Mimi.” She was the center of every gathering whether it be at the creek, at the lake or in her backyard. Her 12 grandkids each thought they were her favorite. She spent many days with grandkids at sporting events then would have a cousin sleepover. She was Mimi to more than just her own grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cotton on December 23, 2022 and a son, Tommy on October 11, 2019.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter in law, Nina Davidson and her three children, Casey Davidson and wife Ericka, Claire Davidson Bostic and husband Gable and Will Davidson and wife Jasmine; daughter, Kelly Davidson Wood and husband Greg and their three children, Carolyne Wood Richtarsic and husband John, Marion Wood Wise and husband Neal and son Gene Wood and wife Ann Clark Wood; daughter; Tracy Davidson Sage and husband Randy and their three children, Cal Sage, Kelsey Sage, Suzannah Sage; son, Ty Davidson and wife Sam and their three children, Nate Davidson, Stella Davidson and Ruby Davidson. Thirteen great grandchildren also were a joy to Mimi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Carolyn may be made to the Boys and Girls Club, 2533 E. Main Street, Gatesville, TX 76528 or Pecan Grove Baptist Church, 1110 Old Fort Gates Rd., Gatesville, TX 76528.
