Carolyn Louise Gwartney, 82, of Cheyenne, Oklahoma was born on June 17, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas to Robert Lewis and Ray Ellen (Thompson) Martin. Carolyn looked upon the face of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at her daughter's home in Nowata, Oklahoma.
Carolyn married her best friend and sweetheart, Harold Eugene Gwartney on December 28, 1959 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They raised their family and spent fifty-nine wonderful years of marriage together. Harold preceded her in death on June 4, 2018.
Carolyn was deeply passionate about her work as a sales representative for Stanley Home Products for forty years. She enjoyed watching television, her favorite shows were In The Heat of the Night, Highway to Heaven, Yellowstone and QVC. Carolyn enjoyed playing dominoes and going to the casino. Her hobbies included writing songs, playing the piano and organ. Carolyn treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home Chapel, Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Richard and Tammy Dugger and the staff of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Cherishing her memory is her daughter, Cheryl Johnson and her husband Jay of Nowata, Oklahoma; two sons, Eugene Gwartney and wife Michelle of Strong City, Oklahoma, Kelley Gwartney and his wife Karla of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; Daughter-in-Law Sandol Johnson of Thrall, Texas; One Brother Robert Dewayne Martin and his wife Gloria of Tulsa, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold Eugene Gwartney; parents, Robert Lewis and Ray Ellen (Thompson) Martin; one son, Darrel Lee Gwartney; One Great Grandchild; One Niece and One Nephew.
Memorials can be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home and Cremation Services, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
