Carolyn Frances (Herr) Holland, 77, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Heritage Woods of Newburgh.

Carolyn was born on December 22, 1947 to the late Fred and Agnes Herr. She was faith-filled and read her scripture books daily. Carolyn attended St. Theresa School, of which her parents were founding members. She still mourned the loss of their monthly Sunday dinners and the summer social where she chaired the ticket booth for many years. Carolyn was a proud graduate of Rex Mundi High School and still displayed her Monarch memorabilia. She graduated from the University of Evansville with a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts. Carolyn was employed by the University of Evansville Administrative Computing Center for 30 years until her retirement. She was a loyal supporter of the Aces basketball team, attending all home games for many years. Carolyn watched any sports on TV she could find. She enjoyed bowling and BINGO. Carolyn loved any and all holidays, even minor celebrations such as Mardi Gras. Carolyn would be decked literally head to toe in holiday clothing, jewelry, and shoes. She also never missed a theme coordinated outfit and always stood out in a crowd! Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she came to be known as Nan to all of their fellow friends, acquaintances, and teammates at Memorial High School. The Facebook posts of her outfits and antics were legendary and she will be sorely missed by her legion of Nan fans. Carolyn enjoyed time spent with lifelong friends at monthly card club and outings where they never played cards. She was proud to be "Madame President" of the Resident council at her facility.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Bart Holland; daughter, Deidre Scheu (Jeff); grandchildren, Max (Mikaela), Carly, and Ryan all of Evansville, IN; sister, JoAnn Jarboe (Joe); and nieces and cousins of the Herr family. She was blessed with loyal friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd., Evansville, IN 47715. with Father Bernie Etienne celebrating.

Friends may visit from 9:00 am until mass time on Friday, September 19, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 2111 Stringtown Rd., Evansville, IN 47711.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to Dawn and Latoya and the staff at Heritage Woods of Newburgh who loved her and supported her passions in her years spent in assisted living.

Bart, Deidre and Jeff, so sorry to hear of Carolyn´s passing. My mom, brother and I were "pew" buddies at St. Theresa Church with her. Always kind, helpful, and a great St. Theresa supporter. God Bless her and her family.

Dear Bart and Deidre,
When I was working with Fr Ted at St Theresa I remembered your mom as a very kind, thoughtful person with a great sense of human. It was a joy getting to know your mom. Be assured of my prayers that God console you with the sure and certain hope that one day you will see your mom again and enjoy her love and affection forever.
God bless and keep you,
Fr. Jim Sauer
