Carolyn May Jewell, 84, of Montrose, IL passed away at 3:15 am on July 13, 2025, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
An Order of Eastern Star service will begin at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 19th, 2025, at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral chapel. Graveside funeral services will be at 3:30 pm at Mullen Cemetery on Saturday.
Carolyn was born on November 11, 1940, in Seattle, Washington to Allen Richard & Ann Louise (Hadfield) Harshfield. She married Edward Jewell on July 11, 1959. Survivors include her son Tom (Lisa) Jewell, daughter Nena Grimes; brother Richard Allen (Fern) Harshfield; two sons in law Doug Spraklin and Allan Moulden; grandchildren Nicholas (Nicole) Fizer, James Fizer and fiancé Brittany Sapp, Rosanne (Tim) Switzer, Edward (Kerrie) Jewell, Alisha Jewell and special friend Adam Sinkler, Lance (Alexis) Jewell, Forrest Spraklin, Molly Spraklin and fiancé Sam Beal, and John Friend; 15 great grandchildren. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin daughters Coral Moulden and Carol Spraklin; one grandchild Tiffany Garcia.
Carolyn worked in management for lumberyards for over 30 years. After retirement she worked in patient transportation for Villas of Hollybrook in Newton for several years. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Effingham Chapter 110 and Royal Neighbors Chapter 834.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and any amount over will be given to the Eastern Star home in Macon, IL.
