Carolyn Mayton Obituary

Carolyn J. Mayton, age 48, of Pomeroy, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at her home in Pomeroy, Iowa. A Celebration of Life for Carolyn will be held from 4 - 7 PM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Gordon Prange City Park, 501 Park Ave, Pomeroy, IA 50575.
Carolyn Joan Mayton was born on January 5, 1977, in Rapid City, South Dakota. She was the daughter of George and Carol (Korf) Mayton. Carolyn and her family moved from Rapid City to Aurora, Colorado, where her parents were stationed in the Air Force. Following the passing of her father, George, the family moved back to Pomeroy in 1988. Carolyn began her education in Aurora, CO, then in Iowa at Pomeroy-Palmer Schools. She graduated from high school in 1995 and continued her education at AIB in Des Moines where she earned her Associate's in Accounting. Carolyn worked for Principle Financial in Des Moines for several years until she returned to Pomeroy to spend time with her mother.
Carolyn was Lutheran and she enjoyed cooking, baking, movies, the Denver Broncos, following the activities of her niece and nephew, and receiving pictures of those activities.
Survivors include her siblings, Gregory (Heidi) Mayton of Cody, WY and Cathryn Mayton of Cody, WY; niece and nephew, Hadley and Griffin, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, George and Carol, and her grandparents, Raymond and Jean (Becker) Korf, Mary Mayton, and an uncle, Chuck Peters.
