Carrie Gardner Obituary

Carrie Gardner, 87, of Roan Mountain went to her heavenly home on Wednesday April 16th, 2025. She was born to the late Mckinley and Rosie Jarrett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Gardner; 2 sons, Charles Gardner and Jimmy Reese Gardner; a granddaughter, Katie Lee Gardner; 2 grandsons, David Gardner and Daniel Paul Mckinney; a great grandson, Gabriel Gardner; 13 siblings, Edith Mckinney, Dorothy Roberts, Ruth Jarrett, Betty Jarrett, Shirley Jarrett, Paul Jarrett, Junior Jarrett, R.E. Jarrett, Norman Jarrett, V.L. Jarrett, Joe Jarrett, Herman Jarrett, and Reese Jarrett. Carrie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She loved her family and held them close to her heart. She loved the Lord above all and was of the Free Will Baptist faith. She enjoyed attending church before she became ill and was unable to go. She was a homemaker. She loved to put out a garden and loved her flowers. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Joanne (Paul) Mckinney, Dorothy Robertson, Linda (Ray) Ledford, Mckinley Gardner (of the home), J.C. "Sam" (Millie) Gardner, and Terry (tammy) Gardner; a daughter in law, Barbara Gardner; 12 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other family members survive. The family wants to thank Gentiva Hospice nurses and CNA's for their care and dedication. They want to give a special thank you to Mardell Hughes for her loving care and support during Carrie's illness. The family will have a service to celebrate the life of Carrie Gardner on Monday April 21st, 2025 at 1 pm in the Tetrick Roan Mountain chapel with Reverend Bill Highsmith officiating. They will receive friends from 12 pm until the hour of service. The graveside will follow in Jarrett Family Cemetery with Dan Colvin, Bradley Buchanan, Cody Buchanan, Buddy Ray Ledford, Christian Gardner, and Wesley Davis serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Ledford, Little Ray Ledford, Paul Mckinney, Randall Gardner, and Caden Gardner. Tetrick Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Carrie Gardner. (423) 542-2232
