Carroll "Gramp" Spencer Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Springfield – Carroll (Gramp) R. Spencer, 85, passed away peacefully with his brother by his side on July 31, 2025, after a period of declining health. Gramp was born on April 10, 1940, in Springfield, the son of Orris F. and Susie E. (Davis) Spencer.

Gramp lived his life in Springfield, working for local farmers, in road construction and then retired from the Maine Department of Transportation.

He was a quiet, caring, happy-go-lucky guy who was known to all as "Gramp." He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his special friend Curt and Linda Turner. He enjoyed helping all with their tasks and chores they were working on. He loved mowing lawns, his own and others, splitting and stacking firewood, listening to music, doing "search-a-word" puzzles and watching his favorite TV shows. To sum up his life, he was a caring, hardworking, on-the-go guy, who lived a simple happy life to the fullest with a smile on his face and his special "yodel" for all to hear.

Gramp is survived by his brothers, Avon R. Spencer and his wife Kathy of Walkertown, NC, Dale L. Spencer of Dixmont and Dana W. Spencer of Springfield; nieces, Lauralee A. Stevens of Bangor, Barbara Stevens of New Britian, CT, Vickie L. (Stevens) Thompson and Deborah S. Stevens of Wallingford, CT, Shannon D. (Spencer) Randall of St. John Plantation, ME and Jessica Hopkins of Walkertown, NC; nephews, Stephen Hopkins and his wife Heather of Walkertown, NC; grand nieces and nephews, Marie Cummings and husband Mark of Lincoln, Ronald D.
