Catherine Brown Obituary

Catherine Louise Brown, age 85, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life on Friday, July 4, 2025.
Catherine Louise Brown was born on December 19, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late William J. and Luzinka Kinnard Brown. On Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 85, she peacefully transitioned from this life.
A devoted member of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Catherine joined under the leadership of Reverend Terry Spencer Jackson. Her life was a testimony of service-faithfully acting as a deacon, a joyful voice in the choir, an engaged member of Circle 3 Women, and a devoted teacher and student of Sunday School and Bible Study. Her faith was her foundation, and her church was her family.
Catherine was a proud graduate of Pearl High School, Class of 1957. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in education from Tennessee A & I State College. Her love of language and learning led her to teach English in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System. Later, she dedicated 40 years of her life to Fisk University, where she worked with diligence and grace as an Administrative Assistant.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: brothers Joseph A., William K., Wesley F., Thomas J., Spencer J., Louis R., and Offutte C. Brown; and sisters Esther Brown Norman, Selena G. Davis, and Mary E. Jordan.
Catherine leaves behind a legacy of love, learning, and faith. Those who knew her will remember her warmth, wit, and wisdom. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted caregivers: niece Pamela Norman-Robinson (Melvin), great-nephew Kenneth Michael Norman-Robinson, nephews Leonard, Robert, and Charles Jordan; and nieces Debbie Newton, Angela Brown, and Kim Jordan Page. Their presence, care, and companionship brought comfort and joy to Catherine in her later years.
While these few names are listed in recognition of their close care, Catherine's love reached far beyond. She is fondly remembered by a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, her cherished church family, and countless friends. All who shared in her life held a special place in her heart.
Catherine's spirit lives on in the lives she touched, the wisdom she shared, and the love she so freely gave.
