It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Celestino Garcia Santiago, a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this world on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Celestino was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1989 in Mexico, and spent his life spreading love and kindness to everyone he met. He resided in Centralia, Illinois, where his presence brought joy and warmth to many.
Celestino will be mourned and forever cherished by his parents, Esteban Garcia Vasquez and Nicolasa Santiago Carmona of Oaxaca, Mexico, who raised him with love and dedicated care. He leaves behind his beloved son, Kevin Santiago Garcia Hernandez of Mexico, who was the light of his life. Celestino's memory will also be carried on by his brothers, Marcelino Garcia Santiago and wife Ashlee of Central City, and Geovanni Garcia Santiago of Centralia, as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: Akaiya, Kenyain, Izaiyah, Mateo, AverLee, and Arelee.
He will also be dearly missed by his aunts, Fracisca Salinas Carmona and husband Marcelino Peralta Soriano of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Regina Salinas Carmona of Centralia, along with numerous cousins and countless friends who were touched by his generosity and compassion.
Celestino was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Eleidia Carmona Salinas; grandfathers, Fausta Sofica Vasquez and Nicasio Garcia; great-grandfathers, Candido Carmona and Cecilia Salinas; great aunt, Catalina Florentina; two great-uncles, Bernardino Carmona and Gillermo Carmona, and his cousin, Manuel Salinas Paulino Carmona.
Celestino was employed by SWAN and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was an avid lover of soccer and basketball, and found peace in fishing and gardening. Celestino's big heart was evident in his willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
In honor of his wishes, Celestino will be flown to Oaxaca, Mexico, where he will be laid to rest. The Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home, located at 235 North Sycamore Street, Centralia, Illinois, is honored to be of service to Celestino's family during this difficult time.
