Chad Martell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 6, 2025.
February 11, 1977 to July 2, 2025, age 48
Chad Joseph Martell, of Gallup, New Mexico, where he resided for the past five years with his wife Rebecca and their youngest daughter Alexa, passed away peacefully in his home after some challenging health issues.
Chad had a love for Harley Davidson, stopping with his wife at dealerships across 23 states and also enjoyed Nascar, not to mention being very patriotic. Chad's greatest love was for his wife, Rebecca Martell, of 24 years, who was also his best friend and he did everything with; their four children: Dakota Martell (Jada) of Manitowoc, WI; Lauren Mitchem of Milwaukee, WI; Delany Martell (Ethan) of Whitelaw, WI; and Alexa Martell of Gallup, NM. He also absolutely adored his two grandsons, Ashton Allie, and Maverick Allie. In addition, he loved his sassy dog Ivy, and two cats, Benny & Bruce. He had a love for all animals participating in 4-H for many years.
Chad was one of the most humble, sincere, and genuine people you would ever meet. Anyone that knew him would absolutely agree with this. The best advice he would give to his children, is "Flowers, Candles" smell the flowers and blow out the candles. He was truly the "rock" of his family.
He was born in Manitowoc, WI on February 11, 1977 to Merrie Tapani and the late Guy Martell. He graduated from Valders High School in 1996 and went on to work 22 years at Federal Mogul in Manitowoc. At the time of his death, he was the Maintenance Manager at RMCHCS, Gallup NM, the hospital where Rebecca still works. They formed many close friendships, that became family. He touched all the lives at the hospital and was loved by all.
Chad is further survived by his mother, Merrie Tapani of Kingsford, MI; one brother Jason Martell of Manitowoc, WI; a sister & brother-in-law, Tonya and Steve Riske, of Manitowoc, WI; a sister-in-law, Pam Thompson of Manitowoc, WI; and MANY, MANY loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, a niece, godchildren, and MANY friends!
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Martell; His loving Grandparents, Gloria and Wally Kiesow who helped raise him; his Grandma and Grandpa Martell; a sister Lindsay, and a very close cousin, Kevin Kiesow.
In lieu of flowers, the family is raising funds to do dedications in Chad's name to keep his memory alive. A celebration of life, what Chad wanted, will be held at a later time; one in New Mexico and one in Wisconsin.

Chad was a gentle soul, a kind hearted gentleman, who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure every task was completed properly with a smile on his face. He was so helpful during my last encounter with him. He left a big impression. His absence has left a void and his presence will be sorely missed at RMCH. Rest in peace, Chad.
