Charlene Joy (Estey) Jack, 65, of Blackduck, Minnesota died on June 17, 2025 at the Emeralds Nursing Home in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
She was born on August 9, 1959 to Shirley Skinaway and Earl Jack, Sr. in Minneapolis, MN. She attended South High School in Minneapolis, graduating in 1974. She was an enrolled member of the Bois Forte band of Chippewa Indians. Her native name was GIIWITAA'OSEWIN GIIZHIGONG GIIZIS, which means the sun that walks across the sky.
Charlene was a kind-hearted person who always took care of others, whether they were related or not. She worked in carpentry and was head of housekeeping at the Midway Motel, but her passion and most rewarding time was with her four kids. Along with being a mother, she loved watching WWE and NSE pro-wrestling, especially in the off season of the Minnesota Vikings. She also enjoyed powwows, cooking shows on YouTube, and spending time with friends and family. She was a wonderful woman who will be missed by many.
Charlene was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Skinaway; father, Earl Jack, Sr; 4 brothers, Earl "Johnny" Jack, Jr., Myron "Sheeb" Jack, Tony Jack, and Dale "Diggy" Butler; her father, John Butler, Sr., and granddaughter, Cora Jack.
She is survived by 2 sons, Lawrence (Jessica) Jack of Blackduck and Steven Estey, Jr. of Bemidji; 2 daughters, Roxane (Mike) Jack of Blackduck and Iona Estey of Bemidji; a brother, John Thomas Butler of Minneapolis; sister, Francis Dentz of Orlando, FL; a grandson, Lawrence Jack, Jr of Waverley, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
