PALMYRA- Sandra Higgins, 87, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 30, 2025, at her home in Palmyra.
Born on May 18, 1938, Sandra, was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mavis (Luce) Pinkham, Sr. She married her sweetheart, Richard-affectionately known as "Chicken Man"-and together they raised a loving family of five children.
Sandra enjoyed life. She was a fan of Elvis, the Red Sox and Patriots, slot machines, card games, painting ceramics, baking, NASCAR, and going to yard sales. She leaves behind a family that will remember her sense of humor (and accompanying cackle), molasses cookies, whoopie pies, and always claiming to be 39. Her legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Richard Higgins, Sr.; four children: Richard Higgins, Jr. and wife Bonnie, Kathy Richardson and husband Will, Kim Lincoln and husband Greg, and Kristie Littlefield and husband Dwight; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two sisters: Raelene Plante and Jean Coffin and husband Ansil; the Turner Family; and David Bowden.
She was predeceased by her son, Rusty Higgins; grandson, Steven Buker II; three siblings: Stanley, Harvey and Judy; and special friends Lois Bowden and Sheila Turner.
A celebration of life will be held from 11:00-1:00 at the Palmyra Community Center, 4 Madawaska Road, Palmyra on Sunday, July 13, 2025, beginning with a brief service at 11:00.
The family would like to give a special thank you to one of their own, Tiffany Comis, for providing loving care, comfort, and peace in her final days at home.
