Mrs. Charlene Sewell Turner of Bowling Green, Kentucky formerly of Waterview, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the age of 97. Charlene taught school for two years and worked for the state for 28 years at what was previously called the Department of Human Resources. She was born on Tuesday, January 3, 1928 in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of Thurston & Melba (Walker) Sewell. She had been a member of Marrowbone Methodist Church since 1943. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 58 years, Leon Curtis Turner, Jr.; son, Curtis Lee Turner; daughter, Carolyn Turner Lee; and brother, John Lee Sewell.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Sewell Turner (Angela Keen) of Bowling Green; son-in-law, Gary Lee of Bowling Green; daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Turner "Jackie" Alexander (Doug) of Waterview; grandchildren John Lee (Stacie), Lindsey Lee Devore (Devin), Leigh Ann Turner Morgan (TJ), Liza Turner Tucker (Jamie), Adrienne Turner Edwards (Zach), Larron Turner, and Linly Turner Calixte (Ketler); great grandchildren, Jackson and Karson Lee, Silas Devore, Isabella and Averey Morgan, Autumn and Curtis Tucker, Charlotte and Delilah Edwards, Kailoh Calixte (and a little sister on the way); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm C.S.T. at THE MARROWBONE METHODIST CHURCH and the celebration of life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Marrowbone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Marrowbone Cemetery or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (in honor of Charlene and in memory of Curtis).
