Charles "Chuck" William Barnett II, 70, passed away peacefully, on July 11th, 2025, in Indianapolis, In. He was surrounded by the love of his family and finally found peace, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Chuck wore many hats-husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, veteran, electrician, craftsman, outdoorsman, and friend. Above all, he was a man who showed up, with quiet strength, deep curiosity, and steadfast love for his family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Specialist E-5. His military service shaped much of his character, disciplined, and committed, and remained a source throughout his life. After the Army, he dedicated many years, as an electrician, with Allison Transmission, earning respect for both his technical knowledge and his strong work ethic.
He had a deep love for the outdoors. He thrived in nature-fishing, hunting, camping, or backpacking through the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. He also enjoyed woodworking, was a passionate CB and ham radio operator, and never shied away from a new hobby. Whether it was reloading shotgun shells in the garage or building and flying RC airplanes, Chuck dove into his passions wholeheartedly.
Chuck was married to the love of his life, Barbara Barnett, with whom he built a home filled with hard work, and unwavering commitment. Chuck and Barbara raised a strong and blended family: Shawn and Nikki Higdon, Chuck Barnett, Matt and Brooke Higdon, John and Laura Barnett, Crystal Barnett Kidd, and Jason and Katie (Good) Higdon. Chuck's legacy continues through his grandchildren-William, Riley, Isaac, Andrew, Gwen, Mariah, Parth, Odysee, Ezra, Josh, Kaylin, Ty, Maddie, and Jackson-and great-grandchildren: Emmett, Charlie, Jordan, Georgia, and Jessie. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Robinson, and brother-in-law, Ken Robinson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles William Barnett, his mother Betty Jean Barnett (Clark) and sister Connie Lee Sigman (Barnett).
His life was grounded in faith, and one of his favorite Bible verses was:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." -Philippians 4:13
Chuck may be gone from this world, but his spirit remains alive in every story shared, every skill passed down, and every moment spent in nature. His was a life well lived-one of quiet impact, hands-on wisdom, and enduring love.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church, located at 560 Tracy Rd., New Whiteland, IN.
