Charles Mazzeo Obituary

Born and raised in Staten Island, NY, Charlie was the son of the late Charles and Isabel Mazzeo. Charlie was a graduate of New Dorp High School, and he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Special Education from the College of Staten Island.
Charlie worked for many years as a tenured Special Education teacher for the New York City Board of Education and shared his passion for learning with the many students he taught until his retirement. In addition to teaching, he was a partner in Flowers By Us with his sister Joyce Mazzeo. Charlie married the love of his life, Caryn (Srebnick) Mazzeo. The couple raised their three children in Staten Island, where they remained until 2021 when they moved to Old Bridge.
Charlie was an avid musician who loved playing classic rock music on the guitar. He was also a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching the New York Mets and the New York Jets regardless of whether they won or lost. More than anything Charlie loved being with his family, especially with his three grandchildren. He was a loving and caring man who will be missed by all who love him.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Caryn; his loving children, Cheryl and her husband Axel Jensen, Carissa Jachcinski and her husband Michael, and Charles and his fiancé Olivia Kwiatkowski; as well as by his cherished grandchildren, Sloane, Riley, and Axel; by his caring mother-in-law Sandra Srebnick, and his loving niece Sarah.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at
Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, NJ. His funeral service will be at the same location on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 11 AM, followed by internment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Morganville, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Jude’s Children Hospital in memory of Charlie. www.stjude.org/donate
