Charles Lester Myers, age 79, of Lexington, Indiana, and the son of the late Charles R. and Bernice (Cooper) Myers, was born on August 5, 1945, in Newburgh, New York. He was a 1963 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, Indiana. He attended trade school to become an electrician and a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician. On January 30, 1965, Lester was united in marriage to Donna Sue Everhart, and they enjoyed 55 wonderful years together. From 1977 until his retirement in 2007, he was a devoted HVAC technician for Steinhardt's Heating and Air Conditioning.
In his spare time, he took great pride in driving trains as an engineer and working with model trains. From 2003 until April 2025, he volunteered with the Whitewater Valley Rail Road. Lester was a lifetime member of Austin Baptist Temple, a ten-year board member of the Chelsea Jubilee, and a member of the model train club in Hanover. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Food 4 R Souls ministry in Austin, Indiana. Lester was a hardworking man who could fix anything. Mr. Myers passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at his residence in Lexington, with his loving family by his side.
His life will be cherished by his children: Connie Foster and her companion, Chris of Madison, Joyce Consley of Lexington, Chuck Myers and his wife, Valory of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Joshua Myers and his companion, Amber Foster of Milton, Kentucky; his sister, Sandy Pickett and her husband, Ernie of Evansville, Indiana; his grandchildren: Roy Hutchison, Jr., Michael Hutchison (Jordyn), Charlie Foster (Kim), Adam Foster (Kasie), Brian Consley (Amy), Amy Hill (Dan), and Mackenzie Myers; his great grandchildren: Carter Lee, Paige, Mason, Bryson, Braydon, Carter Ray, Cooper, Karmen, Hydie, and Benjamin; his aunt, Bernideen Himelrick of Hundred, West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Donna S. Myers who passed away on February 21, 2020; his brother: Danny Myers and his wife, Barbara; and his infant sons: Terry and Michael Myers.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, June 23, 2025 at Living Waters Mennonite Church, 8722 West Jones Road, Lexington, Indiana, with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison, Indiana. Friends and family may visit at the Living Waters Mennonite Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Whitewater Valley Rail Road or the Food 4 R Souls. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home, at the church during services, or below.
