Charles (Chuck) Smutko, born on August 21, 1932, entered Eternal Life on Sunday, June 29th. He met his future wife, Bernadette Schneider on the same date, June 29, 1962, 63 years ago. They were very happily married for 61 years and brought this world 4 daughters, Pamela Smutko Machulsky (Mark), Tammy Smutko, Tracy Smutko Fagan and Penny Smutko Maronski (Greg). God also gave them the following gifts: Amanda and Jimmy Machulsky, Connor and Colin Fagan, Serena Smutko and Madyson, Samantha and Nathan Maronski. Charles' parents were John and Theresa Smutko of Windber, PA. He will also be missed terribly by each of us, but always in our thoughts and above all in our prayers. Marge will miss her walks with puppup also. She is Tammy's 13 year old Teacup Yorkie.
He worked at Campbell's Soup for almost 40 years and he loved traveling with his wife while working through the early 2000's. Chuck was also a member and Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Epiphany Council No. 3485 as well as a member of the 4th degree for quite a few years. He served in the US Army for 3 years during the Korean War and was an avid bowler. Chuck was a very friendly man on the corner who waved (even if up on the garage roof or ladder) to every passerby in a car, walking a dog or pushing baby coaches. He and Bernadette resided in the same home for 60 plus years.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, July 7, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Most Precious Blood (Transfiguration) Church, 445 White Horse Pike, West Collingswood, NJ where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Cremation and inurnment will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 550 Mickle Blvd., Camden, NJ 08103.
