Charles T. Stelzer Jr., 67, passed away on Friday June 20, 2025, at University Hospital, Newark, after a lengthy illness. Born in Plainfield, Charlie grew up in Cranford and was a long-time resident of Chatham. He was a 1976 graduate of Cranford High School, and a 1980 graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University. An avid sports fan, Charlie rooted for the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Devils. This enthusiasm led him to start D.S. Sports Collectibles, which markets sports memorabilia throughout the region. His love for the Grateful Dead may have even outshined his loyalty to New York sports. Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and going down the shore, especially to Island Beach State Park in Seaside Heights.

He was the beloved son of the late Charles T. Stelzer Sr. Charlie is survived by his mother: Anne Louise (Figler) Stelzer, son, Maxwell Lannin Stelzer, daughter, Charlotte Bradford St. Marie (Alex), son, Jackson Charles Stelzer, two sisters: Carole Stelzer-Morris (Christopher), Dianne Fairbanks (Mark), and brother: William Todd Stelzer, as well as many other close friends and extended family.

Charlie was truly one of the most generous, funny, and kind-hearted people you can imagine. Everyone felt comfortable and welcomed around Charlie. He raised great, kind children and left a lasting impression on anyone he ever met.

Charlie’s visitation will be from 1PM - 5PM ET Thursday June 26, 2025, at Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue, Cranford, where his Service of Remembrance will begin at 4PM Thursday. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Liver Foundation, at Liverfoundation.org. Please go to: www.grayfuneralhomes.com to offer condolences.
