Charley Enis Obituary

Charley Enis, 85, of Manchester, TN passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025. Born in Booneville, MS, he lived a life filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to his family, community, and church.
Charley was a member of First Baptist Church in Booneville, MS before heading off to college at Mississippi State to obtain his degree in Electrical Engineering. After relocating to Tennessee, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN and then First Baptist Church in Manchester, TN. Charley was a member of FBC Manchester for 59 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher of various aged classes over the years, Chairman of the Constitution Committee, and served in many other capacities over the years. Charley participated in disaster relief with the Southern Baptists, including helping with clean-up in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Charley was an Electrical Engineer at Arnold Engineering Development Center for 40 years, working in VKF and Decade. Charley attended the University of Tennessee Space Institute. He was a member of ISA and IEEE.
He loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, and traveling and instilled those passions in his children, including working with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Jaycees. Charley was a member of the Gideons and served as the Card Chairman.
Charley is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Enis; his daughters Angela Gilley (Rex) and Jennifer Todd (Bobby); his grandchildren Jessica Gilley, Garrett Enis, Nathan Todd, Jadon Todd, and Lila Enis; his sister, Norma von Doehren; and many dear friends. Charley was preceded in death by his parents Noel Cook and Lorene Enis; his sister Barbara Holley; and his son Jeff Enis (survived by Donna).
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 1 pm at Trinity Baptist Church. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Bailey Manor for their exceptional care and support. Charley's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Gideons.
