Charles "Charlie" Glen Meyer, 58 of Postville, Iowa passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at his home. Charlie was born August 18, 1966, to Ronald Meyer and Susan (MacMillan) Meyer in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Charlie graduated from Postville High School and attended Diesel Tech School in Calmar, Iowa. While in tech school, Charlie lived in the Oelwein area and interned at the Oelwein Case Implement. After completing school, he moved back closer to home and started working full-time at the Postville Implement. During this time in his life, he met the love-of-his-life, Janell. While dating Janell, Charlie worked at Falb Implement in Elgin, Iowa as a mechanic and Pleggenkuhle Farms near Sumner, Iowa as a hired man on a hog & crop farm.
On June 13, 1992, Charlie was united in marriage to Janell Moser at Illyria Church in Elgin, Iowa. In 1993, they moved to Charlie's childhood home on Gunder Road south of Postville where they raised three sons. Charlie worked several years driving delivery truck for H & H Food Service in West Union, Iowa and spent five years being a mechanic for Ziegler Inc. in Postville, Iowa. In 2006, Meyer Big Iron Repair (MBI) was established. Charlie was a self-employed heavy equipment mechanic and sold tools and undercarriage parts. In 2008, Charlie and Janell took over the farm. Charlie loved planting and harvesting the crops and did his best to extend those times by custom farming.
Charlie had such a love for music and 80's rock-n-roll music, to be specific! For 10 years, Charlie and Janell entertained as "Goodtime Charlie" and "Jumpin' Janell" singing karaoke. Charlie took guitar lessons with their oldest son, Conrad, for a few years which sparked his interest in playing in a rock-in-roll band. His first band was the "Charlie Meyer Experiment" which led him to the next 3 bands "Bad Influence", "Challenger", and most recently, "Bad Dog 20/20".
To say Charlie was one-of-a-kind would be an understatement. He was larger than life – a man who lit up every room, made every gathering better, and left no heart untouched. Charlie was the kind of person who lived boldly and loved fiercely. He made fast friends and kept them for life. People were drawn to his magnetic personality, quick wit and the way he made everyone feel like they mattered. Charlie was a man of strong faith and was proud to serve alongside the rest of his faith family at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Surviving Charlie are his beloved wife, Janell Meyer of Postville, Iowa; his sons, Conrad (Abby) Meyer of Cuba City, WI, Elliott (Brooke) Meyer of Hazel Green, WI, Rubin Meyer of Dubuque, IA; Grandchildren, Rhett, Ethan and a baby due in September; Father, Ron Meyer of Postville, IA; Mother, Susan Anderson of New Prague, MN; Siblings, Carol (Doug) Willingham of Salado, TX, Cathy (Randy) Simon of Winterset, IA and George (Liza) Meyer of New Prague, MN; Mother-n-law, Judy Moser of Elgin, IA; Bother-n-laws, Brian Moser of Elgin, IA, Bruce Moser of Elgin, IA, Corey (Kris) Moser of West Union, IA, and Craig (Jessica) Moser of Elgin, IA and several nieces and nephews.
