Publish in a newspaper

Charlie Franklin "Frank" Pollard Jr., 80, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on July 24, 2025.

Born on February 5, 1945, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Frank was the eldest son of Charlie and Margaret Pollard. His family eventually settled in Virginia Beach, where he graduated from Princess Anne High School in 1963. Shortly afterward, Frank enlisted in the United States Air Force and served proudly at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, Florida, until his honorable discharge in 1967.

In 1968, Frank married Judy Clayton. Although their marriage later ended, they remained on good terms and shared a lasting friendship rooted in mutual respect and love for their son, Scott. Frank continued to be a devoted and involved father, always showing up with support, wisdom, and his signature sense of humor.

Frank furthered his education and earned a degree from Old Dominion College in 1974. Always driven and focused, he passed the CPA exam in 1976 on his first attempt-a rare accomplishment-while working at Goodman & Co. in Norfolk, VA.

Frank and Judy moved to Chesapeake in 1977, the same year they welcomed their only child. Being a father was one of the greatest joys of his life. He was deeply devoted to his son, never missing an opportunity to show support, offer advice, or crack a joke when it was needed most.

Frank's dedication to his community ran deep. He was heavily involved in the founding and continued success of the Chesapeake Jubilee, volunteering his time and energy each year for more than three decades. His generosity, commitment, and good humor made him a beloved presence among fellow volunteers.

He was known for his quick wit, magnetic personality, and ability to make friends wherever he went. A passionate and hard-working man, Frank poured his heart into everything he did-whether it was his career, his community, or cheering for his favorite teams. A lifelong sports fan, he had a special love for baseball and the New York Yankees. He often said, "The key to life is: a pop fly over the third baseman's head, is the shortstop's ball."

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Judy Ferguson. He is survived by his son, Scott Pollard; four siblings: Robert Pollard, Sheila Scarberry (Eddie), Richard Pollard, and Barbara Mark (Karl); six nieces and nephews: Diana Pollard (Harrow), Robert Pollard, Jennifer Pollard, Karen Scarberry, Jasen Storberg, and Jeremy Storberg; his great-niece, Kallie Storberg; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Frank Pollard lived a full life, defined by humor, generosity, and an unwavering love for those closest to him. He will be dearly missed.

A public service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Great Bridge Chapel, followed by a committal service and reception. Flowers may be sent to the Great Bridge Chapel at 524 Cedar Road.
