Charlotte Astrid passed away, at the age of 87 on June 24, 2025, with family by her side. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Charlotte was born on June 7, 1938, to Arnold and Esther Gomer. She was baptized and confirmed at Lake Hazel Lutheran Church in Swift County. Growing up in Swift County Charlotte was an active member of the Lake Hazel Eager Beavers 4-H club, where she was a grand champion seamstress and her dress was displayed at the Chicago World Fair. She graduated from Benson High School in 1956. She attended the University of Minnesota for Home Economics.

She was united in marriage on September 15, 1957 to Garfield Lee Haugen in the Lake Hazel Church. Charlotte and Garfield soon started a beautiful family of 3 daughters and a son. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage together. They loved traveling and especially enjoyed each summer at the cabin on Lake Minnewaska. In 1976, Garfield and Charlotte built the house of their dreams NE of Benson. They had space for their family, friends, large gardens and space for entertaining. In 1978 Charlotte attended Alexandria Tech and graduated with her Interior Design Degree. She opened her first design studio in Benson called ‘Interior Views’ followed by another studio in Morris. In the 1990’s Charlotte and Garfield opened their beautiful Home as Lille Haugen Bed & Breakfast Inn. In 1998 Charlotte and daughter Andrea started ‘A Moveable Feast’ catering service until 2005.

Charlotte was an amazing daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Charlotte had many talents and interests. She was an avid seamstress/quilter, baker/chef, rosemaler, designer and host of many social gatherings. Charlotte was an active member of the Zetetic Study Club and President of the Women’s Federation, the Cancer Society, Lake Hazel Cemetery Association, She was involved at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church from Sunday school teaching to Smorgasbord and everything in-between.

With all of Charlotte’s talents and accomplishments, she felt most blessed by her beautiful family. Her love for Garfield and children was boundless. She never ran out of hugs and love to everyone she met. She was a blessing to everyone’s lives.

She is survived by her 4 children; Paulette (Bruce) Jaeger of Benson, Valerie (Daniel) Nordsletten of Fargo, Andrea (Philip) Thomson of Benson and Kristopher (Tara) Haugen of Procter; 14 Grandchildren; Jeremiah Jaeger, Nicolette (James) Servoss, Danielle (Samuel) Jaeckels, Calvin (fiancé Hannah) Nordsletten, Ashley (Chris) Lassiter, Philip (Tara) Thomson, Kristopher Thomson, Claire (Kelby) Tarmann, Thomas Haugen, Abigail Haugen and Grant Haugen. Step children Dori, Kari, and Jason Nordsletten; 13 Great Grand Children; Bryce, Connor & Norah Lassiter, Parker & Brooke Servoss, Coraline & Fergus Tarmann, Indie & Evelyn Thomson, Brielle Nordsletten and Forrest Jaeckels. Step great grandchildren Celeste and JT Nordsletten; Brother; Rolfe (Patrica) Gomer of Benson; nieces Lisa Gomer and Laura Goulet, nephew Andrew Gomer.

Proceeded in Death by her parents Arnold and Esther Gomer, husband Garfield Lee Haugen, God Parents , Martin and Cora Haugen, granddaughter Hillary Kirstin Thomson, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Charlotte will be missed but greeted by those that have gone before her and her beautiful voice will join the angels.
