Charlotte Catherine Hofman, 93 of Bonduel, WI passed away June 25, 2025. She was born to the late Walter and Gabrielle (Heynen) Mason on August 8, 1931, in Shawano, WI. She was the second of 5 children. Charlotte grew up in Shawano and graduated from Shawano High School in 1949. She married Carlyle Hofman in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano WI on July 30, 1949.
Charlotte and Carlyle started their married life in Marion WI and later moved to Bonduel. In 1956 they founded Hofman Insurance Agency, where Charlotte worked in the office and was always known for her kindness and helpful nature. In 1976 Larry Reisner joined, changing the business to Hofman Reisner Insurance Agency until both Charlotte and Carlyle retired in 1996.
Charlotte was, for several years, a self-described "very amateur" golfer. In 1962 they purchased a cottage on Shawano Lake and loved all it had to offer. In 1976, they transformed it into their permanent home, creating a place full of family gatherings, good food, and laughter. Charlotte was a wonderful cook who loved entertaining friends and family.
It was growing up in her parent's flower business, Mason's Flower's, that she developed her love for orchids. As a lifetime member of Northeast Wisconsin Orchid Society Charlotte loved growing orchids, attending and coordinating shows and meetings. She also loved traveling and sightseeing, visiting places such as Hawaii, the Caribbean, Scotland, London, Jamaica, and Dubai.
After retirement, Charlotte and Carlyle returned to Bonduel, where they enjoyed a quieter life watching their family grow.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Marie Brandes (Darrel); her son, Daniel Paul Hofman (Wendy); and her daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hofman. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren-Matthew, Jennifer, Brenda, Becky, Bethany, Kody, and Kelsey-17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Mason Jr. (Bonnie), and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlyle, in 2004; her son, Herbert "Buck" Hofman, in 2017; and her sisters, Joanne Vanden Avond (Dick), Suzanne "Sukie" Klose (Don), and Marguerite "Mitzi" Moesch (Duke).
Charlotte and Carlyle were avid dog lovers that brought them much joy throughout their lives. The family has chosen their anniversary, July 30th to reunite Charlotte, Carlyle and Pepper in a private family gathering. In accordance with Charlotte's wishes No public service will be held. Memorial may be directed to Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Evergreen Nursing Home and ThedaCare Hospice for their compassionate care. As Charlotte often said, "They take such good care of me."
