Cheri Claman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pedrick Funeral Home - Keosauqua from Jul. 3 to Jul. 16, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Cheri Rose Claman, affectionately known as C.C., was born on November 26, 1964, in Kirksville, MO, to proud parents Ransley "Ray" and Joan Ann Lutz Peek. She spent her formative years in Memphis, Missouri before moving to Keosauqua, Iowa, where she resided at the time of her passing. Cheri's sparkling personality, genuine warmth, and zest for life endeared her to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Cheri Claman was an avid motorcyclist and a proud member of ABATE District 14. She was also a formidable 8 ball pool player who participated in local tournaments and played for over three decades on the SE Iowa Women's Pool League. In her free time, Cheri enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, with Christmas and Halloween being her favorites. She was the heart and soul of these festive occasions, bringing joy and laughter to those around her and making sure no one was left home alone on a holiday.
Cheri's passion for pool culminated in the founding and facilitation of the Annual Hoot Owl Shoot Out, an annual 8 ball pool tournament in Keosauqua, Iowa. Over the past 21 years, the Hoot Owl Shoot Out has raised thousands of dollars for the Shriners Hospital Network, a testament to Cheri's dedication to her kind and generous spirit.
Cheri is survived by her loving parents; her children, Brandi Claman, Tanisha Blakley, and Dakota (Heather) Claman; her grandchildren, Edith Diers, Joani Blakley, Carl Blakley, William Neer, Jacob Neer, Addyson Neer, Isabell Blakley; and her sisters, Dawn (Ronnie) Smith, Tracy (Danny) Miller, and Tina Bartholomew. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, and a large extended family, friends, and her ABATE brothers and sisters, who will miss her deeply. Cheri was preceded in death by her sister, Rayann Peek Brown; her brother, James "Jimmy" LaDue; her brothers-in-law, Allan "Chip" Davis and Matt Bartholomew; and her grandparents.
Cheri left a mark on the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and huge heart will live on in the memories of those whose lives she touched. Cheri never knew a stranger and never left a stray behind (pets or people). Her big heart and loving spirit was displayed throughout her lifetime as a care giver. From her younger years as the "big" little sister, to her teens working as a CNA, to her early adult life as a mother and aunt, and into later in life as a tireless caregiver to her sister Rayann and her father.
Per Cheri's wishes, she will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life held at T&C in Keosauqua, IA on Saturday, July 26, 2025, beginning at 4 pm. Memorial contributions in Cheri's honor may be directed to the Shriners Children's Hospital and mailed to P.O. Box 74, Keosauqua, IA 52565. Friends may share memories and sign the online guestbook at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com.
