North English- Chester Kenneth Ballard was born September 10, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Kenneth Newton & Jessie Ruth (Downing) Ballard. He graduated from North English High School in 1961 On June 16, 1962, Chester was united in marriage to Carol Ann Dietze in North English. He was a life long farmer and worked three years at Amana Refrigeration in Amana. Chester was a member of the North English United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the wildlife, farming and spending time with family. Chester died on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Pella Comfort House in Pella, Iowa, at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by two sons Dennis Ballard of Wayland and Don (Brenda) Ballard of Knoxville; three grandsons Brian (Chelsey) Ballard, Kevin Ballard and Shawn (Rachael) Ballard; four great grandchildren Jaxon, Chase, Kash & Odin Ballard; and a sister Sheila (Greg) Knuth of North English. He is preceded by his parents, wife and a sister Janice Masters.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will follow in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 9:30 am until service time, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
