Chester Laverne Carter, age 73, of Columbia, passed away Monday, March 24, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin.
He loved fishing, singing, riding with the Amish, corn hole and horseshoes; Chester loved going to church, gardening and growing flowers, but most of all his family; he was known to everyone as "Chester Cheetah".
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Earl Walters and James Thomas Carter; two brothers, Allen Carter and Arthur Lee Carter and three sisters, Virginia Smith, Neoma Clark and Dolvinia Watson.
He is survived by his life partner, Jackie Ann Graves; two brothers, Rev. Kenny Carter of Magnolia and Frankie Carter of Bardstown; two sisters, Ella Carter of Elizabethtown and Sue Williamson of Magnolia; three grandchildren, Megan Simpson, Breanna Barnes, Devon Barnes and three great-grandchildren, Kaylynn, Kayden and Cameron.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 31, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Hodgenville with Revs. Kenny Carter Sr. and. Kenny Carter Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia is in charge of the arrangements.
