Christopher Demetrius May, was born on August 12, 1962, to the later Pauline May and William M. Dean, Jr., in Delhi, Louisiana.
He departed this life on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana, surrounded by family. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and united with Truevine Baptist Church in Delhi, Louisiana, under the leadership of Reverend H.B. Rancher.
Chris attended Delhi High School and was part of the class of 1980. Chris has always had a deep passion for baseball-a love that started in childhood and only grew stronger with time. From the crack of the bat to the pop of a fastball hitting a glove, the game speaks to him in a language he understands like no other. It was well known that if the ball was hit to right field, Chris was sending it straight back home plate. Coaches from other team would say. That boy got an arm on him."
Chris was also a gifted craftsman with an artistic soul. With skilled hands and a creative heart, he lovingly built wooden structures and handcraft pieces that brought beauty and comfort to those he loved. Whether it was a custom church house or a piece of home decor, every creation carried his care, patience, and personal touch. His work lives on in the homes and hearts of family and friends.
Chris was an undeniable Cowboys fan!
In his departure, he leaves to cherish his memories, three children, Shameika Garrison-McDowell (Jonathan) of Mckinney, Texas, Tamarcus May (Kimberly) of Delhi, Louisiana, and Christian May of Alexandra, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Qualand Comradd, Lakieyah Person, Jamarvius May, Tae'Lon McDowell, Ashonlyn Criss, and Aunna Criss; beloved sister, Vallisteny May-Jones (Bryan
Keith) of Dallas, Texas, Brenda Clay of Mesquite, Texas; two brothers, Peter McCall, of Dallas, Texas, and Freddrick McCall(Punchee) of Delhi, Louisiana; seven aunts, Hazel Jackson, of Los Angeles, California, Marlean May of El Paso, Texas, Betty Jean Drummer(Jessie) of Delhi, Louisiana, Victoria Jackson, of Detroit, Michigan, Sandra John, of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Ann Harrison, and Della Mae Rufus of Bakersfield, California; three uncles, Buford E. Dean (Lizzie), Charles Edward Dean of Delhi, Louisiana, and Defondy Dean (Catherine) of Greensboro, North Carolina; one great-aunt, Bell Washington of Delhi, Louisiana; one special great-niece, Kemyra Landry, who loved him dearly; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
