Christopher McDowell Obituary

Christopher M. McDowell, of Madison, TN passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Chris was born on November 20, 1978, in Utica, NY and later moved to Hoover, AL where he spent most of his early childhood. He moved with his family to Durham, NH in 1988 where he attended Oyster River schools and took several courses at UNH.
Chris loved sports, watching, analyzing and participating in them. He was part of many teams throughout the years including swimming, football, tennis and baseball before finding his athletic passion in hockey.
As an adult, Chris found his professional passion in cooking and worked in a variety of eateries in a number of states. He first started at UNH's New England Center in Durham, before moving to Florida where he spent several years and then later settling in Madison, TN.
Chris is survived by his wife, Sharon (Ellis) McDowell formerly of Rochester, his parents Rod McDowell of Hooksett and Barbara McDowell of Durham, his sister Tracy Roberts and brother-in-law Mike Roberts of Hooksett and his sister Laurie Twomey and brother-in-law Pat Twomey of Dedham, MA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Mary and Michael Roberts and Shannon and Danny Twomey along with an aunt Marianne Hurley of Quincy, MA and many cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Purdy Funeral Home at 2 Concord Road in Lee, NH on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 29th at St. Thomas More Church, 6 Madbury Road Durham, with Father Andrew Cryans officiating, followed by an interment in Durham.
