Claude Porter Grindstaff, 90, of Wooster, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, July 4, 2025 at West View Healthy Living, in Wooster after living with Parkinsons for years.
Claude was born January 7, 1935 in Robbinsville, North Carolina to Porter and Icie {Rich} Grindstaff. He graduated from Robbinsville High School.
Claude served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea.
He married Rebecca (Becky) Kuntz on September 5, 1956. She survives him.
He was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he made large and small wooden items for the church. He was a skilled craftsman building two homes for his family and two homes for other families. He enjoyed woodworking and built furniture for many people.
Claude will be deeply missed by his wife; children Karen (Dan) Eagle of Wooster, Linda (Mike) Stitzlein of Bucyrus, and Lorie Kaufman of Willowick; grandchildren Joel (Hannah) Stitzlein, Andrea (Will) Mutters, Jeremy Kaufman and Darcy (Michael Sr) Buxton and five great grandchildren; siblings Violet (Richard) Messer, Marvin Grindstaff and Richard Grindstaff of Robbinsville, NC.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Shirley and brother Melvin.
Private services will be held at Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
