Claudia Garber Obituary

Claudia Garber, age 87 of Elkhorn, NE passed away on February 24, 2025, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney on Saturday August 09, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. with John Owens officiating.

Claudia was born on February 23, 1938, in Sidney, Nebraska to James and Lois Hazlewood. Claudia was the third child out of six in her family. Claudia graduated from Sidney High School and after a short period in Denver, returned to Sidney and met Bill Garber. They both instantly fell in love and were married on April 5, 1959. Claudia and Bill started a family and shortly afterwards started a tax and accounting service. Claudia worked in the tax business until she retired in 2010. Between raising a family and working, Claudia enjoyed gardening. Her gardens were well known around town. Her love of flowers and nature were the inspiration for her many paintings. Bill and Claudia enjoyed traveling around the country going to various art festivals.
Claudia is survived by: her daughter Katy Garber and her husband William of Fort Collins, CO; her daughter Susan Owens and her husband John of Omaha, NE; her nephew Jay Hazlewood and his wife Stefani; her grandchildren: Telia Seeley and her husband Jeff of Plattsmouth, NE; Ryan Owens and his wife Amber of Omaha, NE; Diana Gort and her husband Justin of Farmington, MN; her great nephew Chase Hazlewood of Dallas, TX; her great grandchildren Lance Seeley, Hazel Seeley, Isabel Owens, Harley Gort, and Warren Gort; her brothers: Tom Hazlewood and his wife Diane; and Steve Hazlewood and his wife Mary; and her loving companion dog Max. Claudia was preceded in death by: her husband Bill Garber; her parents James & Lois Hazlewood; her in-laws Chester and Ione Garber; her sisters Carloyn O'Neil and Kathryn Buehrer; and her brother Jay Hazlewood.
