Claudie Milvid Owens-Neal peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in Highlands, TX. She was 77 years old. Claudie was born to James Odell Owens and Katie Eliza Coward-Owens on June 18, 1948, in Baytown, Texas. She graduated high school in 1967 and as a young woman, she enjoyed many social activities such as going to the drive-in movies. At the Decker Drive-in Theatre in Baytown, TX is where she met and fell in love with her soul mate, Richard Eugene Neal. Claudie and Richard shared many fond memories at this movie theatre, and after a few years of dating, on August 19, 1966, were married at First Baptist Church of Cloverleaf. Two years after marriage, they started a family when they welcomed their son, Richard Eugene Neal Jr. A family of three was not enough for the young couple, so seven years later Claudie gave birth to their beautiful baby girl, Elizabeth Ann Neal on April 29, 1975. As she raised her family, Claudie also built her career as a rural postal carrier for the Crosby Post Office where she worked and made lifelong friends for over 25 years.
As a devoted parent of the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) and a member of Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) Houston Chapter, she also spent countless hours volunteering at concession stands of sporting events, monster truck rallies and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Everyone who knew her, knew that Claudie loved shopping, but her real pleasure was scoring a bargain. As a matter of fact, experts don't really know why the Kohl's Department Store's stocks plummeted after her passing, but some of her friends know the reason quite well. She was an avid gardener and took pride in her extensive rose bush collection. Claudie also enjoyed guilty pleasures from Sonic and Buc-ee's and if you knew her well, you seldom saw her without her oversized drink. She loved passing time with her friends and family and delighted in trying new recipes to wow them. But her delicious chicken spaghetti and tortilla pinwheels were among the staples during the holidays.
They say, "opposites attract" and such was the case with Claudie and Richard. Richard was a quiet man, but Claudie talked enough for the two. Between flying and road trips, Claudie enjoyed traveling with Richard to over 30 states and enjoyed numerous adventures throughout the years including a once in a lifetime Alaskan cruise. However, in her latter years, nothing brought her more pleasure than doting over her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always quick to show pictures and videos of her great-grandchildren either dressed up for Halloween, playing in the snow or just plain looking adorable. For friends, family and even perfect strangers, Claudie was always there to lend a helping hand or to simply speak a kind word of encouragement. Most of her spare time was spent on missions to help someone else. She will be greatly missed by a host of good friends, family and people she touched with her unfailing love and kindness. Claudie Milvid Owens-Neal's Genealogy Claudie is survived by her grandchildren/grandchildren-in-law, Jessica Neal (Daniel Boston), Cameron Neal (Catherine) and Colby Neal (Edith). She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jayden, Jayce and Jaylani Neal and Amelia, Kade and Morgan Boston and nephew Jimmy Owens. Claudie is also survived by a loving group of Coward Cuzzins, nieces and nephews as well as her bonus children/grandchildren; Adley Compton, Paula Frank, Kristina Tyler, Reginald Tyler, Allahjah Brown, Sean Wilkins, Gladys Frank and Adrian Frank. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James and Katie Owens; her husband of 50+ years, Richard Neal; son and daughter Gene and Elizabeth Neal; granddaughters; Andrea and Alexis Neal; brother, Jim Owens; sister Madge Stephens and her best friend/partner in crime, Paulette Aiken. Pallbearers: Cameron Neal, Colby Neal, Jimmy Owens, Daniel Boston, Adrian Frank and Sean Wilkins
