Clayton was born September 25, 2001 to parents Robert (Dewey) Dewhirst and Amber Martin of Fordland, where he was welcomed home by four older sisters and a niece. Clayton passed on June 17, 2025 at the age of 23.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents Mary & John Eugene Martin of Fordland; his beloved maternal grandmother Nancy Seger of Fordland, a maternal aunt Pam Haldiman of Fordland, and his paternal grandfather Robert (Bob) Dewhirst of Fordland.
Clayton could often be found spending his days working in the garden with his dad. They shared a love for all things outdoors, but they were especially proud of their garden. When he was not in the garden, you could find him out hunting for treasures in flea markets and swap meets with his mom or grandmother. He had such a love for all things unique. From a young age, he enjoyed making art out of found treasures, often gifting them to others. Whether it was by giving them a thoughtful homemade gift or with his goofy jokes and shy grin, Clayton loved to make others smile.
Clayton was a gentle soul. His empathy knew no bounds and his love and devotion to his family was unmatched. He will be dearly missed and his absence will be felt by many.
Clayton is survived in death by his parents, Amber Martin and Robert (Dewey)Dewhirst of Fordland; his beloved paternal grandmother Linda Kelley of Fordland; four sisters, Sarah Haskins of Rogersville, Kimberly & Eric Munguia of Fordland, Heather & Eric Berger of Fordland, Hannah Dewhirst & Derek Cornelison of Marshfield; nine nieces and five nephews, Parker, Sawyer, Shelby, Troy, Taylor, Katie, Jaeda, Emma, Waylon, Zali, Holden, Zoe, Malia, Norah; a paternal aunt Regina Suter of Fordland; maternal grandfather Joe Seger of Joplin; maternal uncle David & Flo Seger of Rogersville; maternal uncle Joe Haldiman of Fordland; and many more cousins, relatives and friends.
A celebration of life for Clayton will be held at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Fordland, Mo. Please wear camo or black in memory of Clayton.
