Kip was born on March 13, 1947, to William and Christene Derrick. He grew up in West Texas and graduated from Lamesa High School in 1965. On June 16, 1967, Kip married Kaye, his wife of 58 years. Together they built a life full of love and family. For many years, Kip owned and operated Kip's Auto Trim, where he took pride in his work. In 2011, Kip and Kaye made Pittsburg, Texas, their home. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg and enjoyed being part of the community.
Kip is preceded in death by his father, William; biological mother, Christene; and stepmother, Wanda.
He is survived by his wife, Kaye Derrick of Pittsburg; his daughter, Kristy Derrick of Longview; his son, Anthony Kirk Derrick and wife Tiffany of Ft. Worth; his grandchildren, Rachel Marie Waltman, Austin Calvin Waltman, Hollie Kaye Waltman, Cody Trey Derrick, and Alex Dewey Derrick; and his sister, Ruby Seale of Pittsburg.
In keeping with Kip's wishes, there will be no memorial service. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Horn-Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.

I asked about Mr. Derrick Thursday because I knew I would need to start his IV, and they told me the sad news! I´m so sorry for your loss! I only knew him a short time, but what an impact he made on me. Always in a good mood, asking about me and my family. He had the best smile and game the best hugs. Mrs. Derrick, I will be thinking of you and your family. I know what a huge loss this is to everyone. I´m thankful for the time I had to get to know him.
