Colten Cain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 4, 2025.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Colten Michael Cain. Born on July 21, 2004, to Michael and Tina (Leick) Cain, Colten left this earth far too soon on August 2, 2025, in Wyoming.

Colten attended high school in Pequot Lakes, where he was passionate about football, wrestling, and cracking a good joke. He was the kind of person who brought love and laughter wherever he went. His smile could light up a room of strangers, radiating pure joy and warmth. After high school, Colten began working for True Drilling Oil Company—a job he worked hard to earn and excelled at quickly. His dedication didn’t go unnoticed; he climbed the ladder with determination and grit. To Colten, his coworkers were more than just colleagues—they were a brotherhood.

Colten loved life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hanging out with his brother, FaceTiming his niece Aria, and spending time with his girlfriend Kaitlynn and their dog Rosie. These were just a few of his favorite things, but above all, Colten loved to have a good time. He had a way of creating a family wherever he went, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and unforgettable memories.

He is survived by his father, Michael; his brother, Tucker (Maliah); niece, Aria; grandparents, Gerry and Barb Cain; aunt, Nicole (Wayne) Waite; uncles, Chris (Rachel) Cain and Heeth (Mindy) Young; cousins, Isaac Cain and Eli Cain; his girlfriend, Kaitlynn Shepard; his loyal dog, Rosie; and his best friend, Jaden Jantz.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Brenny Funeral Home in Pequot Lakes, with visitation one hour prior to the service. There will also be a visitation from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the same location.

A private burial will take place, followed by a Celebration of Life starting right after the funeral service at Barajas in Pequot Lakes. Come have one last toast with Colten.

Please dress casually and avoid wearing black. Colten loved color—especially blue and white, as well as red, white, and blue.
