Corey Lee Bennett, 38, of Yorktown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 16, 2025, at his home.
Corey was born on April 20, 1987, in Muncie, Indiana. He was a 2005 graduate of Yorktown High School. Corey was an Arborist having worked for Wright Tree Service and Lewis Tree Service. He enjoyed drawing, fishing and playing guitar.
Corey is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Carrie Bennett; six children, Josh (wife Melissa), Braden (wife Daisy), Seth, Connor, Saydee, Cason; three grandchildren, Delilah, Lincoln, and Oliver Bennett; his mother, Cheryl Carter (husband John), grandmother, Judith Barnes; 11 siblings, Justin Bennett, Ashley Kowalski (husband Austin), Daisha Bennett, Jacob Bennett, Jerry Bennett, Justin Carter, Amista Kirby, Melissa Carter, Adam Huckeby, Jessica Huckeby, and Kayla Huckeby; mother-in-law, Billie Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Corey was preceded in death by his father, Bryan Bennett; brother, Joshua "Bo" Bennett; three grandfathers, Robert Cope, Frank Bennett, and Jerry Barnes; grandmother, Naiia Ireland; nephew, Superman; and his father-in-law and best friend, Carlo Hammons.
A funeral service to celebrate Corey's life will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 23, 2025, at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel, 2215 S. Broadway St. in Yorktown. Larry Massie will officiate. Burial will follow in Hawk Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday at Gant Funeral Homes – Yorktown Chapel.
