Cornelius Williams Jr.
September 23, 1946 – July 6, 2025
Cornelius Williams Jr., a devoted father, grandfather, veteran, and telecommunications pioneer, passed away peacefully in Lewisville, Texas on July 6, 2025.
Born in Greenville, North Carolina, to Cornelius Williams and Helen Troye Cherry, Mr. Williams attended Fleming Street School and Eppes High School, earning Eagle Scout honors at age 13. He went on to study at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
Mr. Williams proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, completing a tour in Vietnam and giving daily thanks for his safe return. After his service, he began a distinguished 42-year career at AT&T as a planning engineer manager, helping shape vital advancements in the industry. He is survived by his daughter Erika, son Erik, grandson Christopher, and extended family in North Carolina, New York and New Jersey.
A man of quiet strength and deep faith, Mr. Williams worshiped at Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville and lived a life grounded in grace and gratitude. His favorite hymn was "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and he held close the words of 2 Corinthians 12:9 - "My grace is sufficient for thee "
