Cresencio "Chris" J. Maines, age 83, of Orrville, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, following a period of declining health.

Chris was born on November 3, 1941, in Pearsall, Texas, to the late Lilia (Juarez) Torres and Ignacio "Nacho" Torres. On November 17, 1962, he married Karen S. Martin at Calvary Baptist Church in Rittman. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage before Karen's passing on March 25, 2012.

Chris proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1960 to 1966. He was employed for many years with Dairy Farm Products until its closure and later retired from Reiter Dairy in 2000.

He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including golfing, traveling between Ohio and Texas, attending flea markets and operating booths alongside his wife, and meeting regularly with friends from Dairy Farm Products at McDonald's. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Maines; three daughters, Tammy (James) Jarvis and Trina (Darin) Johnston, and Tina (Keith) Hair; six grandchildren, Michael Hair, Kylie Martin, Christopher and Alexis Ann Maines, Kyle Johnston, and Kelsie Curie; and four great-grandchildren, Dawson and Daphne Hair, Riley Martin, and Alaia Laungraj.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio's Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691 https://www.ohioshospice.org/give/.
