Curtis Holland, Jr. was born on March 28, 1959, in Landstuhl, Germany, while his father was stationed there in the USAF. After enduring serious illness for several years, he passed away quietly in his sleep early Sunday morning on June 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Holland, Sr. and his brother, Keith M. Holland, Sr. Curtis graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, Mo. He excelled in the band and received a music scholarship to Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He earned a master's degree in education from the University of Texas. He was a proud member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and remained close to his line brothers throughout his life.
Curtis retired from Dallas Independent School District after more than 28 years of service. He began his career with DISD as a classroom teacher and advanced to Vice-Principal and Principal. He also taught in Desoto ISD after retirement. He will be remembered as an inspiring educator, administrator and mentor.
Curtis was a very active and beloved member of Light of the World Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas, serving faithfully as deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. He will be remembered as an awesome Pitmaster, serving up some of the best barbecued, grilled and smoked meats with his secret rubs and sauces.
Curtis leaves us with a legacy of love. He will be greatly missed. He was a loving and caring husband to his wife Carol for 34 years. He was a loving and devoted father to his son, Curtis E, and to his daughter Cara, and he absolutely adored his grandson, Curtis E, Jr.
Curtis was a loving and caring presence; to his mother, May Holland of Grandview Mo.; to his sisters Kim Holland of Kansas City Mo. and Renee' Clark (Bobby) of Grandview Mo.; to his nephews, Phillip Shafer (Holly), Joel Shafer, Jeffrey Shafer (Lauren), Keith M. Holland Jr. all of Kansas City Mo.; Tyler Cole Holland of Atlanta, GA.; to his nieces Morgan Clark of Kansas City, Mo. and Madison Clark of Grandview, Mo. and to his uncle, Richard West of Trenton, NJ; to his mother-in-law Yvonne Brown and to his brothers-in-law Eddie Brown Jr, and Keith Brown, all of Nashville, TN. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his many cousins, friends, colleagues and his church family at Light of the World Church of Christ.

I really appreciated Brother Holland's teaching style for Bible classes at Light of the World Church. He engaged his students. His gifts will surely be missed. ( Dorothy Stevens, Cedar Crest Church of Christ)
