Dale Allen Vaught, 83, of Columbus, passed away at 3:04 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at his residence.
Born June 18, 1941, in Rockville, he was the son of Owen Russell and Lois Loraine (Burnside) Vaught.
Dale was a 1959 graduate of Paris Crossing High School in Paris Crossing. He was a shop worker for Cummins Engine Company. Dale was a 50-year member of the Rolling Hill Shrine Club and North Vernon Masonic Lodge in North Vernon and a member of the Square Dance Club in Nashville and Greenwood. He enjoyed square dancing, gardening, farming, and being outdoors. Dale loved spending time with his family and visiting with friends.
Survivors include his sons, Christopher Dale Vaught of Bloomington and Trent Michael (Cathy) Vaught of Brownstown; his daughter, Michelle (Carl) Robertson of North Vernon; his companion, June Krebbs of Columbus; stepsons, Rory (Melody) Martin of Freetown and Kenneth (Carmen) Krebbs of Seymour; stepdaughters, Tonya (Arnie) Steber of Illinois and Rochelle (Tom) Stearns of North Vernon; adopted daughter, Kristi (Dwayne) Dickey of Tennessee; brother, Gary Neal (Caroline) Vaught of Maineville, Ohio; grandchildren, Cindy (Tony) Callahan, Marsha (Perry Colett) Stearns, Cindy (Greg) McIntosh, Amanda (Jerade Bonds) Ross and Jesse (Shy) Owens, all of North Vernon, Elizabeth (Rob Murphy) Robertson of Scipio, Trentity (Eric) Edwards of Cincinnati, Ohio, Maika Agpalza and Lois Vaught, both of Brownstown; step grandchildren, Austin Dickey and Jamison Dickey, Jaycee (Kale) Sandusky, and Kennedi (Jake) Carver, all of Tennessee, Christopher (Hannah) Steber and Aaron Steber, both of Illinois, Mieka Stearns of California, Tia (Brandon) Bruner of Westport, Natasha (David Chandler) Owens of Columbus, Donovan Martin and Clarissa (Josh Rosebary) Martin, both of Freetown, Robert Swengle of Columbus, T.J. Harris of Hope, and Avianna Harris of Cincinnati; and 37 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Russell and Richard Vaught; sister Janice (Bill) Amos; grandson, Chad Stearns; great-granddaughter, Gabriella Callahan and stepdaughter, Patricia Krebbs.
A funeral service for Dale will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon. The visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, January 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Masonic Memorial Service will be held at noon of Monday by members of North Vernon Masonic Lodge. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery in Bartholomew County.
Memorials may be made in honor of Dale through the funeral home to the North Vernon Masonic Lodge #59 or donor's choice of organization.
