Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Damian Rodriguez and Ursula Cappas, Damian was raised in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, where he spent his childhood. At age 17, he returned to the United States to begin a new chapter. A proud Puerto Rican, he carried his culture in everything he did, from his values and work ethic to the way he raised his family.
Damian was a gentle giant, humble, calm, and full of heart. He was a thoughtful overthinker, a natural problem-solver, and a storyteller who loved to share memories of growing up in Puerto Rico. A jack of all trades, Damian had a deep passion for cars and electronics. He was both a planner and a doer, always hands-on, always finding a way to get things done.
Above all, Damian was a devoted family man. He adored his wife of 38 years, Lee, his children, and his cherished grandson. He played a fatherly role not only in his own home but also in the lives of the many nieces and nephews he helped raise, quietly shaping the lives around him with love, patience, and consistency.
Even from his hospital bed, Damian stayed true to who he was, stubborn in the best way, making sure his family was taken care of and his affairs were in order. He never missed a beat when it came to business or protecting those he loved.
He dedicated 28 years of loyal service to American Standard in New Jersey.
Damian was predeceased by his father, Damian Rodriguez, and his daughter, Damielys Rodriguez. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Lissette; his children, Zulemy Amador and Arian Eloy Rodriguez; his grandson, Omari Lucca Amador; his mother, Ursula Cappas; his sister, Emily Rodriguez; his brother, Victor Negron; and his son-in-law, Richard Amador. He is also mourned by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will carry his spirit forward with pride.
On Thursday, July 3, 2025, a private family visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, followed by a public visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Hamilton Brenna Cellini Funeral Home, 2365 Whitehorse Mercerville Rd, Hamilton. Before the procession begins, Pastor Rodriguez will offer a few words of reflection. A procession to Ewing Cemetery will take place immediately afterward. We kindly ask that guests do not proceed to the cemetery before the official procession begins, as early arrivals can cause traffic congestion and blockages. Burial will follow at Ewing Cemetery, located at 78 Scotch Road, Ewing, NJ.
In honor of Damian's vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to wear yellow as the primary color. White or khaki may also be worn in place of yellow. We kindly ask that black attire be avoided. Yellow or white flowers are welcome.
