Dana Lybeck Obituary

Dana Cagle Lybeck, 63, passed away peacefully at home in Selah, Washington on July 28, 2025.

Dana was born on September 19, 1961, in Killeen, Texas, to Grady and Roberta Cagle. She was raised in Lacey, Washington with her two sisters Lori and Colleen. She went on to graduate from Central Washington University with a degree in Business Education and spent over 20 years inspiring high school students. Go, Pirates!

Dana married her college sweetheart, Greg Lybeck in 1985. Together they moved to Eastern Washington where they raised three children. Dana was known for her fierce love, generosity, and her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Outside of the classroom you could find Dana on the tennis court with friends, happy houring, rolling dice with her bunko babes, working in her garden, lost in a good book, bargain shopping, relaxing poolside, or spending time with her favorite people, the grandbabies! She was someone who was all in and the ultimate spectator for her children, grandchildren, and students. She was the heart of her family and home. Her kindness, laughter, and special kind of sass lit up the room.

Dana is survived by her husband of 39 years, Greg, their children Bo (Kierstin), Brooke (Kolton), and Damon; and her seven cherished grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and father in law.

She taught us how to love fiercely, forgive quickly, and to always cheer on your family and friends. Her legacy will live on through every life she touched.

A celebration of Dana's life will be held on Thursday, August 7th, at 1:00pm at Cascade Garden. (5704 W Washington Ave, Yakima, WA 98903) All are welcome to join in celebrating. The family requests that attendees dress in cheery colors or happy garden prints. Davis Pirate attire is encouraged and welcomed as well.

In lieu of flowers donations made in her name to the Yakima Schools Foundation will go into a specific fund for her favorite Davis Pirates. She loved nothing more than watching her students participate in various activities and sports. (Yakima School Foundation, PO Box 1173, Yakima 98907)
