Daniel Jones Obituary

Daniel Arthur Jones, born August 28,1977, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Ronald Miller and Danette (Miller) Bush, passed away July 7, 2025, in Doolittle, Missouri.
Daniel was a proud veteran of the United States Navy from 1997 to 2005, courageously serving two tours in Iraq along with deployments in several other locations. His two deployments in Iraq were from San Diego on the Boxer in direct support of the Operation Iraqi Freedom, Amphibious Assault with Daniel as an Intel Photographer. His commitment to his country was matched only by his dedication to his fellow veterans. He became a passionate advocate for military personnel, offering vital information on the benefits of non-traditional medicine and cannabis, and gave numerous talks on how these alternative methods could improve the lives of veterans and others in need. Daniel also worked hard to bring an end to "22 a day" – Over 22 veterans a day commit suicide.
Beyond his military service, Daniel was a man of many talents. A published poet with two volumes of poetry to his name, Daniel was a true artist at heart. His gifted eye as a photographer allowed him to capture life's most poignant and beautiful moments, leaving behind a portfolio of images that reflect his unique way of seeing the world.
Daniel also a served his community as an elected member of the Rolla City Council. Though his time in office was brief, he approached public service with a spirit of inclusiveness, advocating for diversity, beautification, and the growth of a supportive and connected community.
Above all else, Daniel treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved, especially his nieces and his nephew, with whom he shared a deep and lasting bond. His vibrant spirit and immense love for his family will live on in their hearts and memories.
Daniel was survived by his mother, Danette Bush and her husband Richard of Newburg, Missouri; his beloved, Dusty Burgess; his father, Ronald Miller of Rolla, Missouri; his brothers, Michael Miller of Newburg, Missouri; Timothy Miller and wife, Hillary of Colorado, and Gregory Miller of California; his nephew, Ethan Miller, and his nieces, Madelyn Miller, Samatha Glover, and Kylie Jade Miller, his partner in crime, Morty the Cat, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
Daniel was proceeded in death by his grandparents.
Daniel lived as intensely as he loved, and he left an indelible mark on this world. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
