Daniel Zachariah Moreno was born October 15, 1976, in Ennis, Texas to Billienell Kirby Moreno. It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daniel Zachariah Moreno of Mesquite, Texas, on Independence Day, July 4, 2025, at the young age of 48. Daniel Zachariah Moreno was a lifetime resident of the City of Mesquite and graduated from Poteet High School in 1995. Daniel continued his education receiving his Associate's Degree from ITT Tech in Garland. Daniel Zachariah Moreno married Elaine Antonia Flores on October 11, 2003. Daniel Zachariah Moreno started with Dallas County Sheriff's Office in December of 2003, and later that month he welcomed the birth of his son, Daniel Moreno, Jr was born. Daniel Zachariah Moreno was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Antonia Flores Moreno (January 31, 2006); mother, Billienell Kirby Moreno (August 22, 2011); grandparents Ethel Faye Kirby (2013) and Henry Maclyn Kirby (2001). He is survived by his son, Daniel Moreno, Jr. and numerous other family members.
Daniel Zachariah Moreno was born in Ennis, Texas, and he with his mother moved to Mesquite to be closer to his grandparents. Daniel Zachariah Moreno lived a dedicated life to his son and was an amazing father and role model. Daniel served for 22 years at the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, where he worked as a Detention Service Officer, Training Officer, Fire Warden and was a servant of his community. Daniel's son was always his priority; as he made many sacrifices as a single father, raising his son Daniel Moreno Jr., after losing his beloved wife, Elaine Antonia Flores Moreno. Daniel Zachariah Moreno was a beloved soul, who touched many lives and was an overall great loving person to be around. Daniel Zachariah Moreno will be deeply missed by his only son Daniel Moreno Jr, in-Laws, Stella A. Flores and Vincent A. Flores, co-workers of many years and lifelong friends, all of whom he meant so much. He is best known for the love of his family and his son Daniel Moreno, Jr. Daniel Zachariah Moreno left a legacy of kindness to all who he came in contact with. Daniel Zachariah Moreno loved race cars, Chevy's, WWE, the sport of hockey, Dallas Stars, and spending most of his free time making memories with his son.
Daniel's favorite color was blue, and if you would like to honor him, you may wear blue as well.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Laurel Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00 am Friday, July 11, 2025, at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home, located at 12649 Lake June Rd, Balch Springs, TX 75180.

After the funeral service, a room at Spring Creek Barbeque in Mesquite has been reserved, and meals will be available for purchase. All are welcome to join the family and friends there.
