Daniel Swift Obituary
Daniel B. Swift, 79, of Troy, formerly of Clawson, was freed of his earthly body and went home to be with his Savior on October 8, 2025, in Troy, MI.
Dan was born in Highland Park, Michigan on November 9, 1945, to the late Dan B. Swift and Dorothy (Hansen) Swift of White Lake. He graduated in 1963 from Milford High School. Dan and Carol Jager met at Houghton College in New York, and they were married on August 26, 1967, in Strongsville, Ohio. He served for 6 years in the Army National Guard of Michigan from June 1968-June 1974. Dan graduated from Walsh College with a degree in Certified Public Accounting. He worked most of his life as a controller at several different companies and did some private CPA work on the side. After he retired, he worked for a short time as a chauffeur driving people to and from the airport. He seemed to really enjoy it and was blessed with many friendships along the way. Dan and Carol were active members of Royal Oak Missionary Church for much of their early married years and while raising their daughters, before becoming members of Woodside Bible Church Troy (Formerly Troy Baptist) once their children were grown. Dan enjoyed singing traditional church music and was a part of the choir at both ROMC and Woodside. He was also a member of a barbershop quartet during his time at ROMC. He enjoyed "camping" with his travel trailer and caravanning on camping road trips with his family and friends. He was never caught without his trusty coffee mug, which was never allowed to be empty, and was well known for his hat with many pins. He enjoyed spending time with his family, which also included all the various fur children and grandchildren over the years.
He is survived by his wife Carol Swift (Jager), two daughters, Michelle (Bradley) Ervin of Shelby Twp, Heidi Swift-Smith of Clawson, four granddaughters, Kimberly (Jacob) Sackleh, Emily Ervin, Monae Swift, and Aubrianna Smith and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Avery Sackleh. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy L. Swift.
Funeral Service Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 12PM with Doug Schmidt officiating at Woodside Bible Church, 6600 Rochester Road, Troy MI 48085. Visitation at church begins at 10AM.
A private burial will be held at Christian Memorial Gardens West, Rochester Hills.
