Darla Stimmel Obituary

Darla June Stimmel, 77, of Oldtown, Maryland passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on February, 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late George R. and June Stimmel. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Carol Cooper and Carla Malloy, and her brother George W. Stimmel.

Darla grew up in Cumberland Maryland and was a graduate of Fort hill high school class of 1965. She worked as a teacher's aide at Cash Valley for her entire career. She was an active member of the Davis Memorial Methodist Church. Through her work and her church she touched many lives. She enjoyed the outdoors, animals, singing, and her family. She loved everyone and even though she never had children of her own there are many that were privileged to receive her motherly love.

She is survived by the countless bonus children that called her mom to include nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and countless cousins. She will be missed, this day and all that follow.

Like her brother before her, Darla will be cremated and a celebration of life will be planned in the spring with more details to come.
