Darlene Gardner Boyd, age 77, passed away, on July 2, 2025, at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown. She was surrounded with love from her family and friends.
Born August 10, 1947, Darlene spent her life embracing laughter, friendships and connections. Her quick wit, infectious smile and genuine love for others made her a joy to be around.
She retired from civil service as a Security Specialist at Fort Knox after 38 years.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Allen Boyd; her parents, Jesse H. and Emmaleen Richardson Gardner; two sisters, Emma Jean (Pete) Williams and Peggy Stiles.
Darlene is survived by a son, Mark Allen and daughter-in-law, Natilea Boyd, of Hodgenville; a brother, Harold (Virginia) Gardner of Indiana; three brothers-in-law, Jack Stiles of Louisville, Darryl (Debby) Boyd and David (Shirley) Boyd all of Hodgenville; two sisters-in-law, Linda (Joe) Cecil of Hodgenville and Sue Burdette of Elizabethtown. Darlene had several nieces, nephews and cousins she treasured dearly, plus a circle of close friends whom she loved like family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, Bro. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow alongside her husband in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 6, and after 9 a.m. Monday, July 7, until time of service at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
