Darlene Richard Obituary

ABBEVILLE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, July 4, 2025, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Darlene Trahan Richard, 68, who passed away on Tuesday July 1, 2025 at her residence. Reverend Daniel Picard will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Ella Caillouet and Zata Lanclos. Gift bearers will be Megan Langlinais, Amelie Caillouet, and Anna-Marie Richard. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ryan Richard, Jon-Michael Richard, Matthew Baudoin, Peyton Richard, A.J. Degeytair and Cody Gunter. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery 515 Jacquelyn St. Abbeville, LA 70510.

A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, 209 S. Saint Charles St., Abbeville, on Friday, July 4, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 1:15 PM, when the procession will depart for the church. A rosary will be prayed at 11:30 AM by Jonas Richard, Jude Richard, and Susan Richard.

Darlene could always be found in the stands or the crowd, cheering on her beloved Hunnie Bunnies her endearing nickname for her grandchildren at baseball fields, football stadiums, dance recitals, band concerts, and award ceremonies. A proud and devoted grandmother, her greatest joy was celebrating the achievements and passions of her family. She also cherished the time spent with her dear friends in her card group and lunch group. Whether she was reading a good book, tending to her garden, or baking something sweet to share, Darlene filled her days with love, laughter, and warmth. Her presence brought light to every room, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 51 years Rickey Dale Richard, her two sons, Matthew B. Richard and Jon-Michael Richard and wife Amy; one daughter, Regina R. Caillouet. Her ten grandchildren; Megan, Matthew, Amelie, A.J., Ryan, Ella Anna-Marie, Peyton, Caidyn and Grayson. Darlene is also survived by her three sisters, Sandra T. Osburn and her husband Victor, Roma T. Gunter and her husband Edward and Mary Pat T. Lachaussee and her husband Timothy, and one brother, Randall G. Trahan.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alton John Trahan and Elodie Marie Guidry Trahan, her brother, Alton J. Trahan, also her in-laws Curley J. Richard and Eve Abshire Richard.
